    Mike's Pulstar Test Results
    Mike's Pulstar Test Results

Previously, SparkPlugs.com had a third party perform multiple dyno tests on a stock Neon SRT-4 to compare the actual performance of so-called "High Performance" spark plugs against their stock counterparts. NGK's IX Iridium, Denso's Iridium and Enerpulse's Pulstar Pulse Plugs all gave us a measure of unexpected shock and awe.

The results were cool, but we at SparkPlugs.com like to be difficult. One very controlled test on a tuner vehicle that resulted in a 3hp increase over the stock plug - just not good enough. Testing all of those plugs all over again on a gas guzzling monster? Now we're talking.

But before we could get there, Mike Warke of Louisiana beat us to the punch, and topped our desired criteria. With a whole lot of disbelief that Pulstar's pulse plugs weren't just a gimic, Mike asked to put the plugs through his own set of scrutiny on his 2004 Dodge 1500 5.7L HEMI. Of course, we were all for it until Mike let us know that this bad boy was also carrying a Flowmaster exhaust, True Flow air intake system and SuperChips computer software, adding a grand total of about 50 extra horse power. That's when we put the foot on the brakes since Pulstar has reported poor results using their plugs with a modded vehicle. But somehow Mike talked us into it anyways, and even he was surprised with the results. Using engine tuning computer software, Mike calculated an estimated increase of 14.26FWHP and increase mileage of 1.2MPG City and 2.1MPG Hwy.

Check out his test results on the left!

...Stay tuned as SparkPlugs.com still plans to re-do its Dyno testing of all plugs on a gas-guzzler...
